CARDS / TICKETS

Pay As You Go Cards

There are three Robin Hood cards to choose from: Pay As You Go (PAYG) for occasional travellers, Flexible Days for flexible travellers, or Season for regular travellers.

The Robin Hood Pay As You Go card is a multi-operator card that acts as an electronic purse – deducting travel as you use it. There’s no need for cash or tickets, the card does the hard work for you – capping at the best price for the day.

With the Pay As You Go card, you can travel on any bus and tram within the Robin Hood Network (Greater Nottingham) area. Travel beyond the boundary is not permitted on any bus service.

You can view the Robin Hood boundary map here.

Where do I purchase a Pay As You Go card?

All Pay As You Go cards can be purchased online or at the Nottingham Travel Centre. Adult cards can also be purchased at any tram ticket machines.

All adult, student, under 19 and 19-21 Pay As You Go cards can be topped up at the tram ticket machines, via our mobile app, online and at the Nottingham Travel Centre.

When  first purchasing an adult Pay As You Go card, there is a one-off £3 fee. This fee does not apply if you are purchasing an under 19, student or 19-21 Pay As You Go card. After you’ve purchased your card, you can then top the card up with the amount you require. This can be either £5, £10, £20 or £50. The maximum balance you can have on your card is £100.

  • If you are purchasing an Under 19 card, you will need to provide proof of age and you will need to have a photo taken for the card. Your card will stop working the day before your 19th birthday
  • If you are purchasing a 19-21 card, you will need to provide proof of age and you will need to have a photo taken for the card. You will also need to bring proof of a Nottinghamshire address. Your card will stop working the day before your 22nd birthday. This scheme is funded as part of the UK Government’s Bus Strategy Improvement Plan. You can find out more about this project here
  • If you are purchasing a Student card, you need to present an in-date photo student ID issued by your place of study e.g. your university or college. Please note that we do not accept NUS, TOTUM, UNiDAYS, Student Beans or ISIC as a form of ID
  • Please note that all Student Pay-As-You-Go cards expire on 31st August and are not valid for use thereafter. However, any balance remaining can be transferred onto a new product once proof of student eligibility for the next academic year has been proven

Refunds

Refunds are available on Pay As You Go cards with a balance higher than £3.00. A £3.00 refund fee will be deducted from the remaining balance.
