Pay As You Go Cards

There are three Robin Hood cards to choose from: Pay As You Go (PAYG) for occasional travellers, Flexible Days for flexible travellers, or Season for regular travellers.

Both cards provide you with the convenience of integrated travel across Greater Nottingham without the need for cash.

Robin Hood PAYG is a multi-operator card that acts as an electronic purse – deducting travel as you use it. There’s no need for cash or tickets, the card does the hard work for you – capping at the best price for the day.

Robin Hood PAYG can be used on:

  • Nottingham City Transport
  • trentbarton (except skylink express, red arrow and night buses)
  • Kinchbus
  • NET tram
  • Linkbuses / CT4N

PAYG cards are available for adults, students and under 19s. All PAYG cards can be purchased online or at the Nottingham Tourism and Travel Centre. Adult cards can also be purchased at any of our handy on-street ticket machines.

All adult, student and under 19 PAYG cards can be topped up at the on-street machines and via our mobile app. When topping up your card, follow the on-screen instructions and select the amount you would like to add to your card. This can be either £5, £10, £20 or £50. The maximum balance you can have on your card is £100.

Keep your card safe and check on your card balance

Register or login to your Robin Hood account. Registered Robin Hood users can view their card balance on their account and top up their card too. The balance shown is on the latest data received from the operators and can take up to 48 hours to update. For an exact balance you can place your card on any on-street Robin Hood ticket machine or, if you are using the Robin Hood Ticketing app, tap on the ‘check card’ link.

£2 single bus fares

Currently, a single bus fare on your Robin Hood PAYG card will cost just £2 until the end of December thanks to the Government’s ‘Help for Households’ campaign.

To get the £2 single fare using your Robin Hood PAYG card, just tap your card onto the reader when you board the bus as normal. The system will automatically offer you the correct fare. The £2 single bus fare is offered at the bus operator’s discretion.

When you travel using your PAYG card, you can get two single trips for £2 each – once you travel for a third time, you will be charged the Robin Hood day cap (for Adult PAYG cardholders, this ranges from £5.00 to £6.00 depending on the operator(s) you use).
